Microsoft Access 97 and 2000
(Financial Controller only)
To use the ODBC driver to link your Sage Line 50 data to Microsoft Access 97 and 2000
1. Start the Microsoft Access program from Windows.
2. Open the Microsoft Access File drop-down menu from the main menu bar and choose the New Database option.
The New Database window appears.
3. Choose the Blank Database option and click OK.
4. Enter a name for the new database in the File Name text box and click Create.
The Database window appears.
5. Open the File drop-down menu from the main menu bar and choose the Get External Data option.
6. Choose the Link Tables option.
The Import window appears.
7. From the Files of Type drop-down menu, choose ODBC Databases and click OK
The Select Data Source window appears.
8. Select the tab for Machine Data Source and highlight the Line 50 data source and click OK.
Note: If the Line 50 data source is not listed, click
New.
The Create New Data Source window appears.
Select to create a System Data Source and click Next.
Highlight the Sage Line 50 v8 data source from the list and click Next
Enter the Data Source Name, for example Sage Line 50 and the data path,
for example. C:\program
files\line50\accdata and click OK.
The Sage Line 50 Data source will now be added to the list.
9. If you have activated Access Rights within your Sage Line 50 program, then the User ID and Password you enter here should be the same as the logon name and password you have entered there. If your password is for the whole company, i.e. Access Rights is turned off, then enter manager in the User ID box and your password in the Password box and click OK.
If you click OK without entering anything, the driver will try to use Manager as the User ID without a password. If Manager does have a password, an Incorrect User ID or Password window appears.
The Attach Tables window appears.
10. Select the table you require from this list and click OK.
The Select Unique Record Identifier window appears.
11. Choose a unique field, for example 'Account Reference', and then click OK.
The Database window appears, with the tables selected showing in the database.
The requested data is now attached to the Access Application.
